2021 summer trials

These trials are now complete, but you can still participate in the 2023–2028 trials.

Summary

These trials were aimed at testing the various steps involved in a participatory project. Our participants were citizens and NGOs from Scotland, France, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, and Bulgaria.

In this phase, we tested four silver fir and European beech provenances using direct seeding (see Glossary). We tested the effect of seed predation by rodents (using mesh cages) and competition (using weed exclusion sheets). Participants monitored the germination rate and the phenology of seedling emergence, and they measured the height of seedlings at the end of the growing season.

Data analysis is in progress and results will be posted here soon.
